“Barcaiolo (Boatman) this is how the pile of hand-harvested wheat leaps was called at Lake Chiusi, the place where the vineyards of our Chianti grows.

“It’s a classic wine, an ancient classic like few others. No chemicals, just grapes. A Sangiovese coming from a loamy and clayey soil that gives a lot of elegance.

It’s a satisfaction in the glass. A beautiful structure and that typical balance of wines from Podere della Bruciata.”

SOME TECHNICAL NOTES ON THE WINE

VARIETY & TERROIR

Sangiovese from loamy and clayey soils at 300 meters above sea level. A well-tended valley, with Etruscan tombs in the surrounding area. Vines with spontaneous ground cover, cared for like a monumental park.

HARVEST

End of September-October, full phenolic ripeness. ONLY manual in boxes. Selection of the grape directly in the vineyard: only first-choice grapes.

TRELLISING SYSTEM AND YIELD

Cordone Speronato typical of Tuscany. 4500 vines per hectare. 60 quintals of harvested grapes per hectare.

WINEMAKING

Spontaneous fermentations in steel tanks. Long macerations. Aging: 3-6 months in Italian tonneaux, hard and without aromas. Refinement: bottle 3-6 months. Not filtered or clarified.
